YOU

Yes, you. Just you and only you.

When was the last time you thought about yourself?

I don’t mean when last you thought about what you wanted to do, where you had to be or what you had to get for the sake of getting it; none of that. I mean, when last did you really put yourself into perspective? We live in a really fast world, where we’re met with a hurdle of decisions and tasks, daily. That even the simple act of taking a break seems to be a luxury that very few can afford.

Are you slowly coming to the realization that you haven’t been on your mind recently?

Good!

Now this isn’t a gospel preaching narcism, don’t get me wrong. I’m only trying to reintroduce you to yourself because you actually might not have been taking care of yourself as much as you think you have in the areas of emotional, mental and physical health.

Your body is a temple and you have to treat is as such. You shouldn’t just eat whatever looks great and then sleep like a bear in hibernation, no! Admittedly, physical care is a pain but if you don’t do it for yourself, no one will. Do you exercise? Do you drink enough water? Do you eat healthy? I mean you can’t expect to fit into your favorite clothes or not have the back ache of a 70 year old in your 20s without putting in the work. You are what you take in, literally. Having the right habits and following through consistency and persistence are key.

So these days you’re a bit touchy, you’re also quite moody. What’s going on? Admittedly a lot of negativity is being fed into us these days through the internet, it’s simply terrible. I will tell you that it’s okay, because it is.

Do you remember the days when life felt easier? I can honestly say the difference is the level of responsibilities you had and now have. Not a lot has changed. As a kid, you were aware of yourself, the friends you were interested in and the fancy things you wanted for yourself. As a kid, the world revolved around you. But why is it so different now?

You’re probably so self absorbed in a narrative that isn’t yours. It’s a narrative society gave you. The constant pressure to fit in, to do what everyone else is doing. And what about yourself? Left behind! You’ve subconsciously become a product of your society. Another piece in the grand scheme of everything that isn’t for you.

You! Yes you. Take a step back for a moment and breathe. Mentally visualize a table and lay down all your worries, pains, plans and everything else that you’re carrying( Don’t forget all the really good stuff). Done? Great.

For the problems, provide solutions. Talk to people. Search for anything that will motivate you and pull you out of where you currently are. You deserve that much.

For the good things. Encourage yourself, it’s all in you. Normalize the act of loving your self unconditionally and always remember what you want, placing it before everything that isn’t working towards your growth and happiness.

Visit the places you enjoy, watch the movies and read the books that stimulate you positively. Listen to music, engage in conversations that make you comfortable. Set short terms goals and achieve them, it’ll motivate you greatly and you’ll be inspired to do more.

This isn’t a lot, but it’s enough to get you started. Create your narrative and own it.

Make your life a story told by you and only you.
